Brookhaven

Historic Brookhaven has been a beloved neighborhood for over a century since its development in 1910. Today, it’s a peaceful spot where a short 10-minute walk lands you amidst the bustling Phipps and Lenox malls, restaurants, and all the other goodies along Buckhead’s Peachtree Road.

Surrounding the Capital City Club, Atlanta’s oldest private club, Historic Brookhaven has seen a surge in property prices due to its proximity to club amenities. Interestingly, nearly half of its residents are club members, although it’s not mandatory. Recently, the Capital City Club and its estates made it to the National Register of Historic Places, cementing the neighborhood’s status as Historic Brookhaven.

Back in 1810, John Evins made history as Brookhaven’s first permanent European settler. The Goodwin duo took over much of the land in the 1830s, and you can still check out their old home and cemetery on Peachtree Road near Dresden Drive.

As Atlanta grew, folks started building summer homes here in what was once considered the boonies. This led to one of the city’s earliest planned communities, sprawling across 150 acres, complete with a shiny new golf course, later snapped up by the downtown Capital City Country Club in the early 1900s.
